Running

Man I've been running around like crazy today trying get my loose ends tied up before I leave to go on a radio tour next week. I'll be going to 16 cities in 7 states in 5 days. Whoosh, that's alot of driving. I'd appreciate all you prayers for me and my family as I'm gone.

Hey everyone. Just wanted to say thanks to everyone who came out to see us at "Open" at Arkansas State University. Scott and I had a great time meeting you all. If you read this make sure you take a minute and blog and say hello

I got in late last night and couldn't shut my brain off. I didn't fall asleep till 4am!!! That's what I get for eating a cheeseburger from Ihop at 11 o'clock at night.

On the way up to ASU, Scott and I missed the exit to go the Jonesboro. (By Scott and I, I mean ME.) It was raining cats and dogs out there. A buddy of mine called to check on us and said we were driving through a red spot on the weather radar. It was crazy. So we got there a few minutes late, but I have a baby so that's the story of my life these days.

I'll be leaving tomorrow to play at Arkasas State University tomorrow night. It's a venue called "Open". If you're in the area come and check it out. 8PM. Anyone on here from Jonesboro AR? Just curious.

I went and had my car inspected today. That is a barrel of laughs. There's two lines for cars to pull in and every time I go, I always pick the longest one. It really is madding seeing that car that pulled in behind you be ten car links in front of you. I'm not bitter at all. I had two hours to just think.

Anyway, If you think about it pray for Scott and I as we travel. Scott plays guitar with me from time to time. We're gonna do an acoustic set of tunes tomorrow night. Here's the set list:

The Weekend

Hey guys just wanted to say thanks to everyone for praying for Denise And I this past weekend. We had the awesome opportunity of leading worship at Family Worship Center of Jackson TN.

We had a workshop on Saturday where I got to help the FWOC team with the dynamics of playing together and growing tighter as a band. The band guys where all very cool and so open to suggestions. That always makes an outsider feel welcome.

We had a great time in the Lord too. We played a set of older tunes with “First Love” thrown in the mix. It seemed to be well received. I also did the old hymn “Jesus Paid It All.”

Man I love playing hymns. The words are so powerful. What are some of your favorite Hymns?

I rushed home and played at The Stirring at Hope Church On Sunday night also, so I’ve had a busy weekend. I played “First Love” and “Atmosphere” with the stirring band. It rocked. I even sang back up on a few tunes during there worship set. It’s been a great weekend.

My Top Worship Albums!!!

So the new Paul Baloche CD comes out on Tuesday the 18th. I’m so stoked. He’s my hero. I love all of his tunes. As a lead worshipper it’s great to get an entire album of tunes (that are all good) to use in corporate services. Don't you hate it when you buy an album and two songs are good and the rest is lame?

Paul's CD's never fail to deliver. They are packed full of great tunes. This album from what I’ve heard is no different.

Through a mutual friend, I actually got to speak with Paul on the phone for about ten minutes a few weeks ago. That was weird. It was great, but what do you say to a total stranger beyond “Hello and I think your netto?” Anyway he was very gracious and it was cool for me.

Anyway Hey let’s get a little dialogue going. What are some of your favorite worship albums right now? Or of all time really? I was talking about my all time favorite worship records the other day, I thought I’d give you my top 6 (I had to make it 6 because a top 5 is to small), and then we could all compare. In no particular order here it goes:

1. Delirious? “Cutting Edge” Where it all started for me! Thank you Martin Smith

2. Darrell Evans “Freedom” I must have played every song on this album over 200 times in the summer of 98 thru 99. NO JOKE! There was a huge revival @ CTR that year and we had 5 services a week!

3. Paul Baloche “A Greater Song” That record came out last year and blew me away! I play almost every song from it.

4. Hillsong United “More than Life” Holy Cow! This album raised the bar of what worship could be and sound like. Not necessarily my style of music but the content was there and it had the goods as far as the Spirit goes.

5. MorningStar “Glory” For one reason alone, the song “Praise the Lord Oh My Soul” By Kevin Prosch w/ Leonard Jones. I kid you not, the greatest recorded 18 minutes of worship music ever. I could listen to it now and get goose bumps. Spontaneous, prophetic, and raw, the way worship should be. That tune changed my life.

6. 100 Portraits and Waterdeep “Enter The Worship Circle.” Who knew a couple of acoustic guitars and a jimbe could change the global churches’ worship forever? “You Are So Good to Me” is still one of my favorites.

Honorable mentions:

Delirious? “King of Fools.” I weep every time I hear ”What A friend I’ve found.” It’s the anthem of my early twenties.

Vineyard “Hungry and Surrender.” Both of these albums where full of great corporate worship tunes. Kathryn Scott’s versions of the hymns “I Surrender All” and “When I Survey” just wreck me. Plus there was this little small tune called “Breathe” on “Hungry.” I wonder whatever happened to that song? =)

Jon Reddick

So I went to a worship leader's lunch yesterday and my friend Jon Reddick was speaking. It was really awesome. He encouraged/challenged all of us worship leaders to really condition our hearts.

We need to filling ourselves with God daily so we can be sure the water of the Spirit is what we are giving people. If we aren't connected, what are we giving out of? That's a scary thought. That makes me what to seek after God even more.

Today I'm just hanging with Judah. He's eating lunch so I gotta go clean up mac n' cheese now, later, JH

This week has been completely incredible! I was able to play two gigs at the start of this week with my band. That is always a blast due to the fact they are all so crazy talented and fun to be with. Thanks guys.

The following day I found out that the Lord put it in the heart of a wonderful person in my church to buy me a vehicle and trailer!!! So on Wednesday I went to a car dealership to pick up a Chevy Suburban. The following day I was out in Oakland, TN picking up a brand new dual axle trailer.

Needless to say I have been more than blown away by God’s goodness to me this week. I've also being totally inspired by this person’s personal sacrifice to do all of that for me. It has been so confirming to me that I am right where God wants me and that He has truly called me to “GO!” When it’s His will, He makes the way open.

The verse from Revelation I have been claiming for this entire process of launching a music ministry/career is really coming to life:

"I know your [record of] works and what you are doing. See! I have set before you a door wide open which no one is able to shut; I know that you have but little power, and yet you have kept My Word and guarded My message and have not renounced or denied My name."

I have already begun to pray over all of this and thank the Lord. I’ve been asking Him to bless this truck as it will carry me and the band to places to breathe the breathe of God over people and to minister the Holy Spirit to hearts all over the nation. God is amazing and I hope this is a testimony that God truly is a provider.
